Hiiragi's prayer beads KARIGANE
(bombay blackwood × navy)
The most popular variety since the brand's early days,.
For this series, we have chosen the unglazed wooden beads called Tagayasan, which have beautiful slightly grayish stripes.
ーBeads ー
Bombay blackwood
An evergreen tree of the Fabaceae family. One of the three major karaki woods (rosewood, ebony, and bombay blackwood). It is a heavy, hard, and dense material that was used for Buddhist altars and crafts, but it is becoming a rare material. Hiiragi's bombay blackwood is hand-ground, so you can enjoy its distinct stripes.
ーTassels ー
The name ”tetsukon” came about because navy blue was all the rage during the Edo period, and even navy blues were differentiated by their shading. According to the JIS color standard, it is defined as a "very dark purplish blue," and is considered to be a color between iron color and navy blue.
