Virgo ( 8/23−9/22 )
The myth of Virgo is said to have given birth to winter.
One day, Persephone, daughter of the earth goddess Demeter, was kidnapped by Hades, the god of the underworld, and Demeter was so grief-stricken that she locked herself in a cave, causing the grass and trees to wither and the earth to become desolate.
Zeus, unable to bear the sight of her, ordered the god of the underworld to return her daughter to her, and the earth was safely restored to its greenness. However, due to a trick of the god of the underworld, the daughter who ate the pomegranate fruit had to go to the god of the underworld for four months every year, and those four months are said to have become "winter".
Shades of amethyst, kunzite and white moonstone are used to create the image of a maiden in winter. And in reference to the myth, rubies are used to resemble pomegranate fruit. The reddish hue changes the atmosphere and makes even the purple shine vividly. Only with the absence of the maiden (winter) can we feel life.
